Moving Insurance

When preparing for a moving date you should learn how moving coverage and insurance work.

RENTER'S INSURANCE

  • Check with your renter's insurance if it covers any losses during relocation.

HOMEOWNER'S INSURANCE

  • Check with your homeowner's insurance if it covers any losses during relocation.

THIRD-PARTY INSURANCE

  • You may search online or call 'your' insurance company and buy a moving insurance policy for your upcoming move. Make sure to read all fine print. The benefit of getting a moving insurance policy from the third-party insurance company is that you can get such a policy only for specific items.

BASIC COVERAGE

  • This option is offered free of charge for every customer. Basic coverage is a minimal protection coverage: the coverage for lost and damaged items is based on the item's weight multiplied by $0.60 per pound. For example, if a 200-pound armoire gets broked during the move, $120 (200 lbs x $0.60/ln) will be paid.

FULL REPLACEMENT VALUATION COVERAGE

  • With this coverage if anything gets broken or lost a moving company should do one of the following: t 1) repair the item; 2) replace the damaged items with a similar one; 3) settle for the amount up to the declared value. Moving companies charge for this option. Currently, as of March 2020, Friendly Bros LLC doesn't provide such coverage and we are looking for options to have such coverage to be included in our services.
